Cooked our fresh caught snapper 3 ways. Blackened, fried and grilled. Very tasty. Nice seaside feel. Great sides. The fiddle shrimp and hush puppies with jalapeños cheese dip was quite good. Not too spicy just right. Enjoy with family and friends. Hope to come here again someday!

The food was great. And the atmosphere was even better, live band and not to crowded. I had the fiddle shrimp poboy and it was delicious!

Loved it!!! Cajun pasta, grouper tacos and fiddle fish burger!! It was all wonderful! On the list for our next visit to the Alabama coast!!!

I had the shrimp and grits and have had s&g at several places around town- these were definitely the best. Great service and a pleasant evening.

Great little place, food was good, and we had a great time sitting outside and listening to Melissa Joiner! The girl can sing!

This place appears to be a local seafood cafe. Very good fried shrimp & fish and loved the hush puppies. Reasonably priced. Service was very good. Would definitely go back.

I thought the seafood potato was delicious and unique! Our waiter was very personable. Too bad there weren't more people there but it was good for us - no wait and great service.

This small spot across from our hotel caught our eye. We decided to try it as it's so convenient. This was the best decision my wife ever made. ( besides me ) lol .. Staffs super friendly, foods amazing.. Fiddlefish shrimp is a must and the Key lime pie is to die for ..

Great place! Decent prices. Food is fresh and tasty. Chargrilled oysters a must have, fiddle shrimp is great. Fiddle sauce awesome. Got the catch of the day - grouper, perfectly seasoned w/crab on top. Staff is super friendly. Definitely would go back.

AMAZING food. My boyfriend and I took a weekend vacation to Orange Beach and wanted to check out the local restaurants close to our resort. This was right across the street. The food was incredible, the service was great, and we highly recommend it. We had crab balls (WOW so good) shrimp po boy, shrimp stuffed potato, grits, and fried okra. The atmosphere was relaxing, laid back, and comfortable. If you are in Orange Beach, you have to try this place!

If you're looking for the best pancakes ever - look no further than Fiddlefish Cafe! I can't offer an opinion on anything else this restaurant offers, but the pancakes are delicious! Yum, yum

  • Brian W.

We got the crabcake appetizer and the shrimp baskets to go. Couldn't believe there was only one crabcake and there were not many shrimp in each basket. Cheese grits were bland. Employees were friendly and helpful.

Horrible service and average food for the price. They were short staffed the night we were there and we waited and waited. We were patient but the server never offered an explanation until we asked what was going on. Seemed to be a very poorly run place. Many other good choices to make other than this place!

Tasty food (see photos), casual, friendly, and reasonable prices. We will enjoy a meal here again.

Its just good food, had the fried shrimp.

Another frozen fish eatery. Very bright and uncomfortable environment for dining. The waiter had all the tvs on the show he wanted to watch as he did when going from our table thru the bar and kitchen. Won't be back, enjoyed the steamer next door more.

  • Brad C.

Great place with a nice low key atmosphere. Staff was friendly and made things comfortable. The fish tacos were good. Fish was fried, which was different but worked with slaw and other items on them. Good comfort food with a nice laid back vibe. Family and kid friendly. Would go back next time we are in town.

My wife and I stopped in starving and we left extremely satisfied with our choice. My wife had the catch of the day. An amberjack and it was great. I went for the seafood baked potato and it was wonderful with the side of cheesy grits. Carb overload but great! The slaw was not very flavorful. The key lime pie is homemade and excellent. Our server, Daniel, was definitely a positive asset as all of his suggestions were spot on. The place deserves a 5 in our book.

  • Scott M.

What a great place! You have to get the Fiddleshrimp appetizer. Soooo good! I had the blackened Grouper taco's and they were delicious! Others had the shrimp basket and chicken tenders. Everything was outstanding!! HIGHLY recommend!

2nd review for this place. Still amazing. Order jubilee grilled oysters, grilled shrimp, CORNBREAD salad, and bread pudding. You WILL leave happy. We have been here 6 times since they have opened and will continue to come back. Everything on the menu is terrific!

  • Don J.

We were going to go to another restaurant, but went here due to the reviews. Cornbread salad was supposed to great. My party all found it tolerable, certainly not great and no one finished it. Best thing here is the fried food. The fish, shrimp, and oysters were good, but fried. HOWEVER, it is expensive for what you get. My basket with fried fish, shrimp, and oysters was $20. I was going to get the Mahi special, but it was $22....based on our experience, these should have been in the $10 to $13 range. It was a new try and a miss for us. We'll be headed back to the Compleat Angler, with better food and atmosphere, and also where we were headed in the first place. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but again, this one is a pass....

Fire grilled oyster are great; they will cook what you catch for a reasonable price and service is fast. Most people have overlooked this small gem Fire grilled oyster much better than baked like cooking on the beach .!

  • Shawn H.

In town from Hattiesburg, MS, for a few days of vacation. Pleasantly surprised to find such a highly rated restaurant within walking distance from our condo (Phoenix VII). Food definitely stood up to all the hype! The fiddleshrimp were awesome! Glad I saw it mentioned in a review. Corn and crab bisque was delicious for a starter, and the fried okra was perfect. And the wife really enjoyed her pasta jubilee, even though our 4-year-old ate most of her shrimp. Haha. Great service too. Will definitely be back on the next trip!

  • Dale W.

Slow service on a January Saturday lunch. Place was packed. Owner brought out a comp appetizer. Seems to specialize in fried seafoods and a variety of oyster dishes. A few grilled options. Salads unremarkable. Laid back and friendly staff.

  • Gary B.

The only place I have ever been that charges 14 dollars for a small potatoe with about three shrimp on top. Stay away.

    (1)
  • Michael B.

Fiddlefish is AWESOME! The food is some of the best on the beach and the atmosphere is incredible. The owner is very warm and congenial. And Fiddleshrimp....forget about it! That stuff is what dreams are made of! I will not go to the beach without a stop at Fiddlefish! It is simply the best!

  • Monica S.

Great place for a simple breakfast at an affordable price. Eggs were cooked perfectly (actually, my plate came with 3 eggs instead of 2 because the chef was not happy how one of them was cooked... You gotta love a chef that prides himself on quality). Cheese grits were very good, just the right amount of cheese and seasoning. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

  • Sondra M.

We had a wonderful experience last night at Fiddlefish! The food was soooo good and service was great! We had the seafood potato, the shrimp Alfredo, and the fried shrimp. The shrimp Alfredo sauce was very Parmesan-y. The seafood potato was to die for and the fried shrimp was tender and huge! Perfectly cooked! Even the cheese grits were fabulous! Not a tourist trap, for sure! We will come back!

  • Andrew S.

Very good food, friendly service, comfortable atmosphere. Excellent blackened grouper tacos, pasta jubilee is awesome, and the kids loved the popcorn shrimp. A nice change from the bar dive. Fiddle fish is new to orange beach but had been in mobile for several years. Ate here twice in our seven day visit.

The atmosphere is pretty basic but it does have cute decor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is right next to the main highway but they said they sometimes have music on the patio which kind of drowns out the traffic, although this was not occurring when we were dining. If looking for a fancier, dress up restaurant for a night out, this would not be the place to go. If you are looking for a place to go that is friendly, come as you are for some great food, go here. The service was great. Very attentive, friendly and meeting all our needs. The menu is slightly limited but still enough choices for everyone to get something they wanted. They have a full bar with many drink options. For appetizers we had hush puppies with Jalapeno cheese dip - it was okay. Hush puppies were average and the dip was a rotel dip. Therefore, nothing out of the ordinary but good. Another appetizer was a spicy shrimp, which was great. Even those that typically don't eat spicy food could not stop. Main courses were loved by everyone. I had Cajun pasta. The sauce was fantastic. Being a vegetarian they had no problem modifying the order. Others that I were dining with had Cajun pasta with shrimp, shrimp/eggplant dish and shrimp Marsala. Everyone said their dishes were phenomenal in taste and large portions, leaving lots for leftovers. It was good and would not hesitate in returning.

Our worst experience in Orange Beach / Gulf Shores. Terrible service, the food took over an hour to arrive (for lunch) and was mediocre at best. Spend your time and money somewhere else.

    (1)
  • Diane F.

The fiddle shrimp is outstanding.... A total must!!! Atmosphere was relaxed and employees are super friendly and extremely accommodating!!! Hush puppies were excellent!! Loved the cornbread salad and the bread pudding was unbelievably good!!! Ask for DeLana!! Tell her the crazy, loud, fun 3 roommates reunioning in the back corner sent ya!

  • Mechelle S.

The food was pretty good. I had the shrimp basket, and for $14 it really wasn't all that much food. My husband got the fiddlesticks shrimp po'boy and his was a ton of food and was REALLY good. So, it's a hit or miss for sizes, but the food is excellent, if a bit expensive.

    (4)
  • Blakeley W.

Some of the best food I have had in a while. The oysters are so good. They are reef raised which makes them less grainy than most. The crab cake omelette sliders were delicious. The jubilee oysters and shrimp were to die for. You have to order the bread pudding to top it off

    (5)
  • Cindy A.

If you are looking for a local place with freshly made home cooked food, this is the place! Shrimp is great and the sides are really good! We really enjoyed the hush puppies. The bread pudding and key lime pie were delicious! Beachy atmosphere and friendly, efficient staff. Kudos to the cooks!

Chose this place because of previous reviews & very happy we did! Yummy, fresh food and great seafood selections. Crab cakes were cooked perfectly. We came in with our group (including rambunctious kids) and our server Mary was very friendly & attentive! A must try if your in Orange Beach!

Great dinner, great service, a must try! Blackened Mahi w/crab topping, cornbread salad, slaw, jalapeño hush puppies... Wow. :)

Awesome food & service! Our entire party enjoyed it! Will def be back! Shrimp, oysters, cornbread salad, bread pudding were all amazing! Our waitress Delana was fantastic too!

  • Matt H.

Breakfast was fantastic and the service was great. The French toast and traditional breakfast were amazing.

    (5)
  • Kevin H.

Food was great! The cole slaw was a little bland and they gave us Mac n cheese instead of cheese grits, but they were happy to fix it. I will definitely eat there again!

  • Marietta W.

Fiddlefish is a friendly casual cafe with authentic local charm. The gumbo has a wonderful dark roux, an amazing amount of tender shrimp, and just the right balance of seasonings: perfection. My husband and I agree their fried shrimp is THE best anywhere - and that is saying a lot! Don't miss this jewel.

    (5)
  • Larry J.

Food was great and everything was reasonably priced, happy hour every day until closing. Really like the decor, feels like the beach.

    (5)
  • Wade B.

Great food! Recommend all of the seafood. Appetizer-fiddle shrimp-that sauce is awesome! We had shrimp, fish, and blackened fish po boy grilled. Cheese grits as a side and bread pudding and peanut butter pie for desert. You will not be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Kelly T.

The food was very delicious. The shrimp Marsala and fish tacos were great. As well as the crab cakes. The best drink is definitely the coconut margarita. Would definitely come back again.

We were worried right when we arrived and only saw 1 other table taken. The food and service definitely deserved more patrons. I had shrimp and grits and will be back again to order the same soon.

My family was visiting the area for the July 4th weekend. We arrived around 4:30 to find only one other table occupied. No wait, at least! The waiter seemed a bit disinterested. The table had dried food on it. We ordered some char-grilled oysters with lemon and Parmesan. They were excellent but set us back $20 for a dozen. I got a burger with bacon and fried egg. It arrived without the egg, which was later served separately on another plate. The patty and bread were tasty. Fries were above average.

I first went to Fiddle Fish back in September 2014 and loved my experience there. I had the blackened fish tacos and my friends had the fried fish basket. Both were amazing, as was the bread pudding and key lime pie we ordered for dessert. I was incredibly pleased and back then would have given a full five star review. On top of that, the service was excellent. Fast forward to May 2015. I came to the beach with my siblings and decided to take them to dinner here. I had the fish tacos which were, again, amazing. My brother had the Fiddle Burger, which he loved. But my sister's dish, the shrimp marsala, was absolutely awful! The angel hair pasta was big mushy clump and the sauce was over salted, gooey, and there was way too much of it. Luckily, she was able to eat the shrimp while leaving the rest of the inedible dish. My brother also got the key lime pie, but it was nowhere near as good as last time. Not sure if they switched recipes or suppliers, but the pie was way too sweet with barely any hint of lime in it. The crust was also off. Not to mention, it seemed like our servers were in a huge rush to really attend to us -- understandable that service wouldn't be as attentive during the dinner rush, but we felt completely rushed out. So sad! I don't want to give up on this place because I do like the food, but I do hope they improve their service during rush and learn how to properly boil pasta (or don't offer seafood pasta dishes and stick to what you know).

Outside dining was nice with the weather, but too close to the road so not quite relaxing. We had chicken Alfredo, kids Mac n cheese, burger, and shrimp and grits. It was all good, but nothing to write home about. Service was slow, but they were all super friendly.

  • Shelley G.

This a jewel in a cute shopping square! Had great live music out doors. Stephanie, our server, was awesome. I had the 'special' blacken amberjack topped with crab served with potatoes. Awesome!my husband had a couple of appetizers. Fried shrimp, which was wonderful, and crab cakes. Those were delicious! This place is a must if your in town!

It has been almost 12 years since I last had McDonalds but this place makes me want to reconsider. First, our table was close to the kitchen entrance and it was just simply annoying to see the dirty cooks standing in the doorway looking at the TV screens and diners every 25 seconds. There is a large garbage right outside the doorway and all the food is pretty much scrapped into that garbage. It should be inside the kitchen. No one should have to see or smell that. There are 3 tables positioned around it!! Who in there right mind would want to sit there and eat?!? Second, the food was just awful. Fiddle fish specialty!? It's basically bang bang shrimp from Bonefish Grill except here the shrimp were tiny ( might need a jewelers loupe to see them) like the ones people use for salads and it just looked plain sad. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad and the greens were old, not crisp and they may have gotten the shrimp frozen from Kroger 4 states away. Third, I believe the owner was there helping and he walked by our table 150 times ( awkwardly as if he wanted to but it wasn't worth the effort) and never once came over and asked us how everything was or told his staff to stay in the damn kitchen and learn to cook instead of watching ESPN in the main dining area!!!! Just say no to this place. Airport food is better.

Ate dinner here. Got the fried corn on the cob, shrimp po'boy, and blackened grouper fish tacos. Everything was delicious. Very nice portions too. The service was good, the waitstaff was friendly. Highly recommend everything we ordered!

  • Kenneth Patrick J.

Heard good things about Fiddlefish so we tried it for dinner one evening. The food and service were very forgettable. My wife's fish was very dry and my shrimp was very fishy tasting. Even though we left most of our food on our dishes and we did not take it home with us, our waiter didn't bother to ask how our meal was so we can only assume he really didn't care. Needless to say we will not be returning.

The food was good but not the best. Our beers were hot and our waitress couldn't get our orders correct either. It was a cute little local cafe though!

  • Nicole R.

Loved the atmosphere- live music. Food was excellent service was not too good. Prices were resonable/expected. Mac and cheese for a side was excellent, as well as crab cakes, all meat was cooked to perfection. This place was the only one not packed with lines out the door so we picked it and I'd suggest it!

Fiddlefish Seafood Café is ONE GREAT seafood café. The menu is outstanding and any item you order is delicious. My wife and I have eaten at Fiddlefish many times when we are at the beach and we always look forward to going back and enjoying more great seafood!! The service is excellent also!! I highly recommend Fiddlefish.

Delicious food! Very down to earth people working in this place. The owner was extremely friendly and working his tail off to make sure everyone was happy. We went on a Friday night and a local band was playing in the restaraunt--great music with a great meal!! The oysters were incredible, coming from a Louisiana native. This place is a nice getaway from the party atmosphere places. It's more of a relaxed, down-home place to enjoy a meal.

My least favorite meal while via Orange Beach. I ordered the 'Shrimp Baked Potato' since I was told it was one of their specialties. It was not special - it was really just a baked potato with shrimp. Could've been a side and not a meal. Not to mention the shrimp were so small and may have come from a frozen bag at Kroger. I expected big fresh shrimp since we were only steps away from the gulf. I also ordered the hush puppies with cheese as an appetizer. They came out with my meal - I hate that. But what was worse is that the cheese had a film on top, which means it had been sitting out for a while. Also, it seemed like cheese from a Tostitos jar. However, my husband got the raw oysters & friend fish, which were very good.

Great, friendly service. Our server Mary was awesome. She made great suggestions - the fiddlefish shrimp and the fire grilled oysters were super delicious. She also suggested the loaded potato and said their pasta jubilee was most popular. We got both those with grits n cheese and a fried corn on a cob for sides. The jubilee was tasty, but I think next time I'll try the Cajun pasta as I like my pastas a little bit on the spicy side. The loaded potato was excellent. We ordered a key lime pie based on yelp reviews. I was hoping for something more tart and less sweet with more lime flavor. It was more wet and thin, than custardy. Overall, our dining experience was great. Here's to southern hospitality. Thanks Mary!

No wait on a Friday night during busy season....read into that what you will. Food was tasty, service was a little spotty. Had live music which is always appreciated. Had grouper tacos, shrimp and grits, stuffed potato, fried shrimp. Let's just say that if we were hungry and didn't want to wait 1+ hour at other places, we would be happy to come back.

I would give it another chance but I had to post that the eggs were so unnecessarily greasy! I stopped for breakfast on a long walk on Saturday. The service was great but the scrambled eggs were not good, seems hard to mess up eggs. But good location, nice patio and lovely server.

  • Shannon S.

The food here is adequate to good and fairly priced for most items. The menus here are terribly garish and hurt my eyes to look at them. They have a very small selection of items on the menu here if you can bring yourself to look at it. Service was decent but fell flat in some areas as the waitress would disappear for long periods of time and then made a huge mess of splitting up our bill. Management was on top of things and made a point to check up on us about our food and took care of the bill mistakes that were made. Overall this is a good place to grab a quick meal in the area.

In the spirit of full disclosure: my maternal grandmother is French Creole from New Orleans.. so I know good, southern, Cajun & Creole food when I taste it. Yup: this place is it. Some folks say: "hey if you fry it then of course it will taste awesome." NO. You can fry bad food and bad food will still be bad. You really can fry food improperly. But here they did it right. The fried shrimp was delightfully light. The okra - yum fried okra - that's right - was perfection. Just go here. Just go.

    (5)

Great food so so service, had a group of 10 no wait to be seated but long delays between seeing our server. The grilled shrimp was very good and I would get it again. The key lime pie was great too.

Ate here for lunch on a Friday, in town for vacation. We had the fish tacos, seafood stuffed baked potato, kids popcorn shrimp. It was very average. Nothing memorable. Service was good. Probably wouldn't come back though. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great.

The fried shrimp and oysters were really good. Not over battered and fried. We liked the fried corn and cheese grits are great sides

I'm sorry but I cannot recommend Fiddlerfish Seafood Cafe in Orange Beach. The menu was a little odd and so, through process of elimination, I ended up ordering shrimp and angle hair pasta in Marsala sauce. My friend ordered a medium rare rib-eye - which came in a Marsala sauce. First red flag.... How was a chef gonna put my shrimp in the same sauce as his steak? ...and shrimp and steak don't go in a Marsala sauce. My shrimp were cooked very nicely. The poor angel hair pasta was swimming in Marsala sauce. The Marsala sauce was very good but it didn't fit with the shrimp and was way too much for the delicate angel hair pasta. My friend's medium rare rib eye was rare and barely chewable. ....and the waitresses were frightening!! Put some clothes on please! Ewwww! Sorry. Just.Not.Good.

Just had a wonderful experience here! Our party of 6 was seated immediately in this calm, beachy atmosphere. Such a great change from the typical touristy beach restaurant. Pasta Alfredo with shrimp, Cajun pasta, grilled shrimp, fish platter, we're all excellent!! Raw oysters were dynamite! Service was spot on as well!! Will definitely be back.

  • Tracy W.

The best chargrilled oysters ever!!!! Fried corn a must!!!!! Staff is awesome too!!!!!

    (5)
  • Tim H.

Went there with a group of 7 plus a 1 yr old. Had chargrilled oysters, fried crab claws, fried shrimp platters & fried oyster platter. Chargrilled oysters a little overdone or this would have been 5 stars. Crab claws, fried shrimp & oysters were perfectly done. I'm not a huge fan of fried oysters but these were incredible. They may have been a little understaffed because our server was really running but still, he served us quickly and with a smile. The 1 yr old barely had time to get fussy.

Went on a whim for lunch, and was very pleased. The interior is clean and bright, and the outside dining area is covered from the sun. Folks at our table ordered gumbo, Fiddlefish shrimp (firecracker shrimp), fried oysters/shrimp, and fish tacos. Not a single complaint from the group. The gumbo roux was on the thin side, but a good amount of shrimp made up for that. The fish tacos were excellent, with the tomatoes and slaw providing a nice, cool combo when paired with the Fiddlefish sauce (provided on the side). The staff was shorthanded for the lunch rush, but never failed to be courteous or engaging. A good sign for a young restaurant.

The food was good but not the best. Our beers were hot and our waitress couldn't get our orders correct either. It was a cute little local cafe though!

Ate dinner here. Got the fried corn on the cob, shrimp po'boy, and blackened grouper fish tacos. Everything was delicious. Very nice portions too. The service was good, the waitstaff was friendly. Highly recommend everything we ordered!

Great food. Price reflected quality. Very good. Friendly service Parking was difficult but not their fault Ceiling and menu could use an update

I had the shrimp and grits and have had s&g at several places around town- these were definitely the best. Great service and a pleasant evening.

Some of the best food I have had in a while. The oysters are so good. They are reef raised which makes them less grainy than most. The crab cake omelette sliders were delicious. The jubilee oysters and shrimp were to die for. You have to order the bread pudding to top it off

Fire grilled oyster are great; they will cook what you catch for a reasonable price and service is fast. Most people have overlooked this small gem Fire grilled oyster much better than baked like cooking on the beach .!

Slow service on a January Saturday lunch. Place was packed. Owner brought out a comp appetizer. Seems to specialize in fried seafoods and a variety of oyster dishes. A few grilled options. Salads unremarkable. Laid back and friendly staff.

The best chargrilled oysters ever!!!! Fried corn a must!!!!! Staff is awesome too!!!!!

Chose this place because of previous reviews & very happy we did! Yummy, fresh food and great seafood selections. Crab cakes were cooked perfectly. We came in with our group (including rambunctious kids) and our server Mary was very friendly & attentive! A must try if your in Orange Beach!

Yum, yum

We got the crabcake appetizer and the shrimp baskets to go. Couldn't believe there was only one crabcake and there were not many shrimp in each basket. Cheese grits were bland. Employees were friendly and helpful.

I would give it another chance but I had to post that the eggs were so unnecessarily greasy! I stopped for breakfast on a long walk on Saturday. The service was great but the scrambled eggs were not good, seems hard to mess up eggs. But good location, nice patio and lovely server.

Great food! Recommend all of the seafood. Appetizer-fiddle shrimp-that sauce is awesome! We had shrimp, fish, and blackened fish po boy grilled. Cheese grits as a side and bread pudding and peanut butter pie for desert. You will not be disappointed.

Horrible service and average food for the price. They were short staffed the night we were there and we waited and waited. We were patient but the server never offered an explanation until we asked what was going on. Seemed to be a very poorly run place. Many other good choices to make other than this place!

Another frozen fish eatery. Very bright and uncomfortable environment for dining. The waiter had all the tvs on the show he wanted to watch as he did when going from our table thru the bar and kitchen. Won't be back, enjoyed the steamer next door more.
